About the Alumni Projects

Each year, the NBC Alumni Association takes on one or more special projects. We aim to meet a practical and pressing need at the school.

In the fall the Alumni Exec collaborates with the college, students, and amongst themselves to present a short list of project ideas to the Alumni during the U-R-Us meeting held during Alumni weekend. (November 23-25, 2012).

Those present then vote on which item(s) they would like the Alumni Association to take on as projects over the upcoming year. Potential projects are explained in some detail, and there is opportunity for open discussion before the vote.

The Alumni Project Fund

This fund is held within NBC’s accounts, but in principle is “owned” by the Alumni Assocation of NBC. Money raised in this account serves a few purposes.

  1. To finance alumni projects
  2. To provide an Alumni Bursary of $100 to NBC freshmen who are children of alumni.
  3. To cover any expenses associated with Alumni Weekend that the school doesn’t cover. These would include guest speakers and other special guests (ie. someone brought in to do a special children’s presentation), the 'Alumnus of the Year' plaque, and ice rental for the Alumni/NBC hockey game.

The majority of the money for the Alumni Project fund is raised at Alumni Weekend through an offering and a silent auction. It is not uncommon for those unable to attend the weekend to still contribute towards the project. Please call NBC to do so. You are invited to contribute to the Alumni Project fund at any time during the year, and you may be reminded of this fund in one of the the Alumni Newsletters.

There is a tremendous momentum within the Alumni Association in giving towards the Alumni Project. Praise God that over the past 5 years over $50,000 has been raised and covered countless valuable projects!! What a tremendous encouragement and blessing to the staff and faculty at NBC as we partner with the school in this way!
