Nipawin Bible College (NBI) values personal privacy and take steps to ensure your personal information is maintained in a secure environment. NBI does not sell, rent or lease its student, customer or donor information to third parties. The only time we may share personal information is in fulfilling our obligation to students for the purpose of student loan applications, or student approved transcript or reference requests. Collection and use of personal information is in accordance with the federal Privacy Act.
Purposes
Our primary role is that of an educational institution, and as such, our purpose is to serve our students. In light of this purpose, we are required to maintain their academic and personal information. NBI also collects personal information for the purpose of communicating current activities and needs with alumni, students and supporters of this ministry. We do not collect any information that is not voluntarily submitted, and we collect only information that is directly related to the stated purposes above.
The NBI Bookstore collects personal information only for the purpose of sales receipts and account management. No credit card information is collected. We may occasionally send notices regarding upcoming sales to our local customers.
Collection and Consent
During the normal course of servicing students, alumni, supporters, and customers, we may collect information that is personal in nature. Any personal information may be collected from a variety of sources, including but not limited to:
-Student applications
-Recruitment activities
-Forms sent to us in the processing of student loans
-Donations sent to us for the purpose of issuing tax-deductible receipts
-Mailing list subscriptions
-Retreats and special events
Consent is implied in the voluntary nature of the collection and the means in which the information is submitted. For example, contact information is collected from:
-donors who expect and require tax-deductible receipts
-applicants with whom we must correspond and service in the process of enrolling
-potential applicants in the context of voluntary promotional events and activities
-individuals attending NBI sponsored retreats
NBI will ensure that information is used only for the purposes for which it was collected, in accordance with the purposes outlined above. If information is to be used for purposes other than those for which it was collected, we will gain consent before doing so.
Confidentiality and Security
Nipawin Bible College restricts access to your personal information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. Security procedures are in place to prevent unauthorized access to user information, such as computer passwords, locking offices and file cabinets.
The information that we collect in providing scholarship, loan information and other services will not be shared with anyone outside of the institutions involved. The only time we would share personal information with a non-business source would be at your request, for example, loan status information, or transcript requests. We only share personal information with our educational partners in order to send scholarship information to you at your request, to provide for the origination of your student loans, including communications about your personal information with credit bureaus, guarantors, schools and other lender partners, as required by law.
Internet
Our website does not use cookies (a cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server to help us identify you), or any other means to track users of our site. We do not collect any personal information unless you choose to provide it to us through one of our online services.
Some areas of our website may provide links to other sites/institutions, in which case the privacy policy of that site and its Terms of Use apply to you. We encourage you to learn about the privacy policy of any third party before giving personal information to them.
Accuracy and Access
The Privacy Act states that you have the right to access your personal information and request changes to incorrect information. Contact our office at 306-862-5095 or info@nipawin.org to access your personal information, notify us about incorrect information or withdraw participation after submitting your information.
We will make every effort to respond to your request in a timely manner, generally within 30 days. If we are unable to do so for whatever reason, you will be notified regarding the delay.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
NBI may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to periodically review this policy to be informed of how NBI is protecting your information. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If, however, we are going to use personal information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify users by posting a notice on our Web site for 30 days.
