Kyle Hodgman - 2nd Year Student

"NBI is committed to encouraging their students to fall in love with God and His word, to grow spiritually, and to prepare them for ministry. For my year and a half here at NBI, the school has readily provided the environment for these things to grow in my life through dorm life, the classes, and student ministry opportunities.

Because of the classes and dorm life I have been given a spiritually nurturing environment in order for me to grow in my relationship with God and develop disciplines that will keep me close to God. I genuinely love God more now than before I came here.

Because of the classes and my student ministry I have gained knowledge and practical experience in the ministry I feel I am called to in the future. I am planning on going into youth ministry and the classes here have helped equip me for that career as well as get me excited about the ministry God has for me. My student ministry, being on a tour team, has helped me develop my musical and leadership skills which are skills that I feel I will need and use in my future ministry. It is exciting to see how God is already using and is going to use what I have learned here for His glory."

Denise - Grad 1985 / Educational Assistant

"I came to NBI straight out of high school and found that it was a great
place to start my journey into adulthood! I became friends with students who
came from totally different backgrounds, yet we were all one in Christ. This
was amazing and exciting as we learned, laughed, lived and laboured side by
side.

For me, the things I learned at NBI built on what I had been taught
by my parents. I didn't always do well with my independence, but NBI was a
great place to be while I learned the ropes! I know that the "rules" were
huge, but I remember a faculty member challenging us to live so far above
the rules that they wouldn't affect us. This became a goal for me.

My three years at NBI were fun, memorable and filled with growth. I don't know where else I would rather have been.

Now that our own girls are in High School, my thoughts often go to what
might happen after that. I still feel that NBI is a great place to be
equipped for life. One of our daughters is considering university, but she
needs the foundation of Bible School first. We are praying that this will
work out for her and are encouraging her to seriously consider NBI, because
there really is no other option We are convinced that NBI is still a
biblically solid institute, something that is hard to find these days. Times
may change, but God's word doesn't."

Rod Hunt - Parent of two NBI students who both went on to earn University degrees

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

I thank my Lord and Saviour and the faculty and staff at Nipawin Bible Institute for the wonderful years my son, Ryan, and my daughter, Corrie, had following their high school graduation. As parents we wanted to be sure they were really grounded in God’s word and prepared for the big world out there. There are so many choices to make in life, especially at their age. The first year course at the school is appropriately named “Foundations for Life”. Shirley and I encouraged each of them to enroll in first year and see how it would meet their approval.

It is a wonderful place for our young people to leave the protection of home and family and be under the direction and leadership of such fine, dedicated, Christian men and women. Ryan and Corrie went on to three and two year courses respectively. It was great to see both of them developing their character and personality while in the presence of their Christian peers. These relationships have proven to be lasting friendships (not unlike family) all through their university education and even to this current time. I am highly appreciative of the loving care from NBI shown to my family over the years. It is a good place to be!"

Lindsay Anderson - Grad 2004 - Instructor at NBI

"God has used NBI to further my growth with Christ, and in turn my response as a husband, friend and recently father. I was a relatively new Christian when I came here and now am able to look back at who I was as a person before I came here and see where I had been and where I am now."

Jason Elford - Grad 1998 - 3-year grad who went on to further studies / Painter

"There is a current mindset that says to a young person that a year of bible school costs too much: too much time when you need to begin pursuing a career, too much money when you want to save for university, and too much information that will never get you anywhere in life.

10 years later I know I will probably never fully grasp the impact NBI had on my life. I think the main thing God taught me in my years there was that I had something to give. That while so much changes in 10 years – my marital status, my direction in life, my friends and acquaintances, my home church body, and countless other areas – I know without a doubt that God created me to share my story, my experiences, my talents, my abilities, and everything else He created me to be, with others.

I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I would encourage you to abandon a mindset that overlooks the most important things in life. The cost is so insignificant when compared to the value. What a great time in my life."

Gord Sawatzky - Grad 1974 - Career Missionary

"I was one of those students who came to NBI with the intention of staying for one semester and ended up staying the full three years. I also came to NBI with the concern that perhaps I would meet God there and He would want me to serve Him with my life. Sure enough, during my first semester at NBI, God broke through my stubborn selfishness and I committed my life to serving Him, wherever and however He so desired.

Since that time, in the past 27 years I have had the privilege of serving the Lord in cross-cultural ministry in SE Asia, northern Canada and East Africa. My present responsibilities, under Africa Inland Mission, include the mobilizing, training and mentoring of new missionaries to glorify God, build His kingdom and to be a part of reconciling a lost world to Himself.

In my pilgrimage, I have sought to be a man after God's own heart and to serve God's purposes in my own generation (Acts 13: 22, 36). NBI played a significant role in those early formative years of my journey. It continues to be a humbling experience to see how God is using that and other ministry experiences in the formation and preparation of other risk takers for the cause of Christ. "Glorify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together. "(Psalm 34:3)"

Dielle Schmuland - 2 nd Year Student

"I think of students who have come not knowing where they’re headed in life, who have left with a definite purpose. Students who have never even thought of missions who are now preparing to go overseas to share God’s love. The greatest victory may be in the many NBI alumni who are faithfully serving God many years later, wherever they are."

Ken and Marion Graham - Grad 1990 - Pastoral/Preaching ministry

"We came to NBI as relatively new Christians with very little Bible knowledge. For us NBI opened our eyes to the word of God and provided us with the opportunity of discovering the larger body of Christ which was previously unknown to us.

During our time at NBI I learned to love the Old Testament and developed a deep and passionate love for Israel and the Jewish people.

In a period of about 10 years our entire family attended NBI, shaping our future and our faith. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend the school and I recommend it to anyone in need of a deep walk with God. A Bible school education is beneficial to everyone whether full time ministry is your goal or not."
